Senior Designer

The Role

B|A is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Designer to join our studio in Toronto. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in creative design, team leadership and direct client interaction. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit: a passion-driven problem-solver who keeps an eye on the big picture and is always looking for the next game-changing idea. We take a wholistic approach to design, and are looking for someone who can do the same. A sense of humour is a must!

Responsibilities

•          Conceive, develop and implement projects from ideation to closeout

•          Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members

•          Oversee all deliverables and maintain project schedules, ensuring B|A’s high design  

standard is maintained  

•           Foster strong relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders   

•           Maintain detailed contract administration (shop drawings review, change notices, meeting reports etc.)

•           Schedule, review drawings, attend site meetings and follow up as necessary

•           Prepare and deliver client presentations

Skills and Experience

•           Bachelor’s degree in interior design or architecture from an accredited school

•           10+ years of interior design experience in Canada at a recognized architecture or design firm

•           Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code

•           Professional accreditation such as NCIDQ and/or ARIDO

•           Command of AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit and/or Bluebeam

•           Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

•           Adept at space planning, finish selection, product/furniture specification, and budgeting etc.  

•           Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate well with others

The Role

As an enthusiastic and creative team player, you will be involved in all phases of the design process, from conception and specifications to construction. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong balance of technical expertise and conceptual design skills, as well as a desire to grow and share ideas within a supportive environment. A sense of humour is a must!

Responsibilities

•           Collaborate with senior team members on project goals, assisting at every phase

•           Communicate with colleagues and clients to ensure needs are being met

•           Research, evaluate and source products, materials and other interior specifications

•           Maintain documentation regarding budget and client purchases

•           Assist and prepare furnishing, colour and material boards

•           Ensure deliverables meet B|A’s standards and are completed to deadline

Skills and Experience

•           Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school

•           3+ years of experience in Canada at a recognized architecture or design firm

•           Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit and/or Bluebeam

•           Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

•           Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications

•           Exceptional attention to detail
