Aspen Ridge

A Highly Detailed Project for a Client with a Unique Appreciation for Top Quality Finishes and Material

As a leading home builder and real estate developer, Aspen Ridge brings a unique understanding of materials and finishes to the table. And it wanted the best of everything for its Vaughan headquarters and studio showroom.

The lobby establishes the rich material language that continues throughout the project: The sprawling desk, custom-made from black walnut with bronze accents, sits under a massive panel of back-lit onyx displaying the Aspen Ridge logo. Custom millwork, in a lighter walnut, defines an awards display and built-in screens on either side of the desk.

In the Studio, where home buyers peruse a range of choices in flooring, fixtures and more, we inserted a series of consultation rooms. Divided by bespoke walnut display units, these rooms run along the back wall and are enclosed in glass. Sunlight washes through to the main volume, where an exposed structural ceiling lends an airy feeling to a space that, with so many products on display, could easily have felt chaotic.

In the building’s opposite wing, the office area includes several meeting rooms with design-savvy names, such as the Gehry Conference Room. The same walnut millwork and custom display units are featured here. Coordinating credenzas are topped in boldly veined Calacatta marble and finished with bronze details. Bronze also appears in the bespoke boardroom table, as a delicate ring inlaid along the edge – a subtle but tactile detail. The company’s offices also include elegant executive suites and a calming lunch room modelled after a Parisian café. At the core of this wing, an open plan work area is flooded with day light thanks to the clerestory windows that inspired the project’s grandest gesture: a 20-foot-wide greenwall, elegantly framed in bronze against a background of textural stone.
